How do I know if Chiropractic can help me?

Chiropractic can help many conditions, some that you may not be familiar with. We recommend that you make an appointment with us for a complimentary consultation and exam. This will give our doctor a chance to determine if yours is a chiropractic problem. If your condition is a problem that chiropractic can help, we will tell you. If yours is not a chiropractic problem then we will refer you to the appropriate doctor.  Return to Top

Are chiropractors doctors?

Chiropractors have degrees granted from chiropractic colleges. Their education is similar to that of a medical doctor. Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or do surgery; medical doctors do not correct vertebral subluxations.   Return to Top

Is physical therapy the same as chiropractic?

Not at all. Chiropractic is the only profession that treats the subluxation complex. The treatment involves specific adjustments to the spine using the hands or mechanical instruments. Physical therapy is a good adjunct to chiropractic care but is not a replacement for it. Many patients receive chiropractic care while undergoing physical therapy.    Return to Top

At what age can you go to a chiropractor?

Any age! The earlier spinal problems are detected, the easier they are to correct. At our clinic we have treated patients from newborns to age 90.   Return to Top

How often do I have to get adjustments?

This depends on your situation. How long you’ve had your condition, how serious the condition is and many other factors determine how long it will take to heal. Make no mistake about it! Chiropractic is not a miracle fix. Chiropractic care is a treatment aimed at correcting a problem and in some cases this can take time.   Return to Top

My neighbor goes to the chiropractor once a month, how come?

Many people have chronic conditions that are not curable but they are manageable. Regular care keeps their condition stable and may prevent spinal degeneration. Research has shown that regular chiropractic care keeps people healthier and stronger.   Return to Top

Does insurance cover chiropractic?

Yes! Most insurance programs do. Before a patient starts care with Lisle Chiropractic we check out all insurance policies and determine the exact coverage and what your costs will be.   Return to Top

Why does my neck crack when I turn my head?

When vertebrae are out of alignment, normal motion is not possible. When you turn your head the vertebrae in the neck are literally rubbing on each other. This is not a healthy situation and should be checked out immediately by a chiropractor.   Return to Top

Why should I go to the chiropractor if a pain pill takes the pain away?

Most pain pills, and for that matter most medicines, only treat the symptom and not the cause of the pain. By masking the pain you may be covering up the true cause of your condition. Chiropractic aims to get to the root of the problem. We want to find out what is causing your pain, then fix the problem. Drugs taken for long periods of time are dangerous and create other health problems. Remember health does not come in a bottle of aspirin.   Return to Top

Do chiropractors only treat back problems?

No, but that is the most common condition we treat. Second to lower back problems are neck pain and headaches. Chiropractors can treat any condition that does not require surgery or drugs. Many chiropractors work for sports teams. In my office we see everything from carpal tunnel to flat feet. Many people come to the chiropractor as a last resort when everyone else has failed to help them. When we help these people, they refer others and our practice grows.  Return to Top
